MASTER PROGRAM OF LINGUISTICS
FACULTY OF CULTURAL SCIENCE GADJAH MADA UNIVERSITY
The Master of Linguistics study program was founded in 1993 with the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture No. 580/DIKTI/Kep/1993. Before established as an independent study program, the Master of Linguistics Study Program had existed since the early 1980s as a part of the Humanities Sciences Study Program managed by the Postgraduate Program at Gadjah Mada University. Since 2015 the Master of Linguistics Study Program has been under the management of the Department of Language and Literature, Faculty of Cultural Sciences as decreed by UGM Chancellor Decree No. 1681/P/SK/HT/2015.
Vision
Becoming a linguistics study program that is of superior quality, has a national perspective, is active and responsive to language problems and the development of linguistics, and is able to become a leading study program in the Asia Pacific region in 2025.
Mission
- Organizing a linguistics master’s education program that is of superior quality, creative, innovative, and responsive to linguistic problems and the development of linguistics.
- Developing linguistic research that is creative, innovative, and responsive to linguistic problems and the development of linguistics so as to produce theoretically tested and applicable researches.
- Developing community service in the field of language that is useful for enhancing understanding and problem-solving linguistic issues in the community.
- Expanding partnerships with institutions both at home and abroad in an effort to establish a mutually beneficial cooperation for the development of the Study Program.
